Ryan Dittenhoffer
February 22, 1983 - January 16, 2015
Ryan Charles Dittenhoffer, February 22, 1983 – January 16, 2015
At the early age of 31, Ryan passed away peacefully in his sleep, with his family close by. Ryan was a gentle and kind soul, and so many of us loved him deeply.
Ryan was the beloved son of Sandy and Tony Dittenhoffer, the cherished brother of Serene Roberts, and an uncle to his most special and loving playmates, Carson (7) and Alexa (5). Ryan shared his life and joy with his loving partner, Shannon Romanyk.
Ryan had been the beloved grandson of the late Charles (Poppa) and the late Ethel (Nanna) Power. He will be dearly missed by his loving aunts, uncles and cousins including Chum and Paula Power, with Shannon, Meghan and Josh, and new baby Charlie; Donna and Gord Popp with Wade and West; and, John and Barbara Power, with Jasmine and little Tyson. He was cherished by his great uncles and aunts, John and Mary Power, and Dave and Gail Manning. Ryan was also the beloved grandson of the late Michael (Grandpa) and the late Mary (Grandma) Dittenhoffer. Also dearly missed by his Uncle Ted, Aunt Fran, Chris, Deanna, and Troy. Ryan is predeceased by his beloved aunts, Gloria Booth and Barbara Rasmussen. He also leaves behind his cousins Victoria Rasmussen, Ray and Jessie. Ryan had many special friends, including Andrew and Erica Flynn and their four beautiful children. In more recent years, Ryan considered himself fortunate to be welcomed by the Romanyk family in Bolton.
Ryan liked to work with his hands and enjoyed work as a Machinist. He loved get-togethers with his family and friends, and his smart phone was always nearby, staying connected with family and friends. Many appreciated Ryan for being so accepting of others, and his lasting affection and loyalty to friends. Ryan was passionate about the outdoors, and he would camp, canoe, and fish with his buddies and family members in the coldest weather. You could always count on Ryan to start the bonfire and keep it burning. With a special gift from Shannon, he became a skilled archer. Ryan also valued quiet times in his favorite chair, watching movies and playing music with “Gary” purring on his lap, and “Bucky” chirping in the background,. He never missed a Simpson’s episode.
Family and friends may pay respects at the

On Saturday January 24, 2015 at 3 p.m. followed by a chapel service at 4 p.m.
Family and friends will also be welcome to join a smaller ceremony in the spring in Kitchener-Waterloo, where Ryan will be laid to rest. In memory of Ryan, the family would be grateful for donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
The family knows that their broken hearts are shared by so many others, and that Ryan will be sorely missed. But he left us all with special memories, and know that in our thoughts and dreams, Ryan will always be there to stoke the bonfire and keep our hands and hearts warm.
